Why I Love Midtown Houston

Houston is one of the largest cities on the east coast of Texas and midtown Houston has quickly become the place to live for young professionals and families. It boasts one of Houston's most culturally diverse areas, with growing commercial and residential properties.

With its thriving mixed-use community, midtown Houston offers residents the best of everything, making it a great time to explore the city and get out of your condo for the day!

Finding Nature in the City

Situated in midtown is the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, proving residents and visitors a great way to spend the day soaking up the sun in an environment rarely found in an urban setting. Adjacent to Memorial Park, the arboretum encompasses 155 acres of natural forest and is a preserve for local wildlife. Trails wind five miles throughout the center, allowing visitors to check out all that the center has to offer. Guided tours and educational programs are available, and the Nature Center holds classes and features regular exhibits, so if you are tired of looking at the four walls of your condominium, the arboretum is the place to be.

Eating Local

So many dining establishments today are returning to a more simple form of cooking that includes using all local ingredients and famed chef and Top Chef Masters contestant Monica Pope brings the best of Houston to the plate at T'afia, her restaurant located in midtown. T'afia offers diners small plates made entirely of ingredients found locally and made from scratch; definitely a go-to for anyone who is ready for a night away from your condo's kitchen.

Cultural Center

If you are looking for a special night out that's close to home, look no further than the Ensemble Theatre. Founded in 1976, the theatre is the largest African-American professional theatre company in the U.S. that produces plays in-house and owns its own facility. The theatre has been around since 1976 when it was started in a church basement and today produces six contemporary and classical works devoted to the portrayal of the African American experience by local and national playwrights and artists per season. Their Performing Arts education program provides educational workshops, artist-in-residence experiences and live performances for students both off-site and at the theatre. In addition, their Young Performers Program offers intensive summer training for youth ages 7 to 17 that focuses on all aspects of the art of theatre. From great performances to great meals, midtown Houston has it all; it just depends on where the day takes you!
